Job Description:

Northwest Elementary is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Long-Term Substitute Teacher for our 4th-grade class from October through January. The ideal candidate will be passionate about education and committed to fostering a positive learning environment. This role involves planning and grading lessons, particularly in English Language Arts (ELA) and Math, and building meaningful relationships with students in a diverse urban classroom setting. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for effective communication with families to support student success.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lesson Planning and Instruction:

    • Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans for ELA and Math that align with school curriculum and state standards.
    • Employ a variety of teaching methods and instructional resources to meet the diverse needs of students.
    • Facilitate engaging and interactive classroom activities that promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Assessment and Grading:

    • Grade assignments and provide timely, constructive feedback to students.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance and progress.
  • Student Relationships:

    • Create a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued and respected.
    • Build strong, supportive relationships with students to encourage their academic and personal growth.
    • Address individual student needs and provide additional support as necessary.
  • Collaboration:

    • Work closely with other teachers, staff, and administration to ensure a cohesive educational experience for students.
    • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
